Goa BJP cancels all political events on demise of Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar

Following the death of singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s virtual rally in Goa has been cancelled.

According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant the Goa BJP has cancelled the Prime Minister’s rally and other key party engagements Following the death of singer Lata Mangeshkar.

Following the death of the iconic singer, Sawant stated that a two-day state of mourning would be observed. The Goa BJP was set to announce their election manifesto for the forthcoming assembly elections. Nitin Gadkari’s meeting has also been postponed, according to him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to speak at a rally in election-bound Goa on Sunday. Goa will vote on February 14 and the results will be announced on March 10.

Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary vocalist, died on Sunday at the age of 92. On January 8, the megastar was hospitalised to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. Despite having recovered from COVID, the singer was placed on ventilator support on Saturday as her condition deteriorated.

In honour of Lata Mangeshkar, a two-day national mourning period will be celebrated. As a symbol of respect, the national flag will be flown at half-mast for two days, and she will be given a State funeral.
