Rahul Gandhi will address a virtual rally in Ludhiana on February 6 amid speculation that the Congress leader may announce the party’s chief ministerial face for the February 20 Punjab Assembly polls.
Gandhi will speak at a virtual gathering in Ludhiana on February 6th, according to Congress officials.
Gandhi indicated during his most recent visit to Punjab on January 27 that the Congress would choose their chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming election and that a decision would be made soon after consulting party workers.
In addition to receiving comments from party officials and workers, the Congress is using an automated call system to solicit public input on who should be its top ministerial face.
Both President Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu have pushed a case for themselves to be proclaimed the party’s nominee for the top job during the last few weeks, either directly or indirectly.
Gandhi said Channi and Sidhu have assured him during a virtual rally in Jalandhar last week.
