Skills, Start-ups and Sports Now Part of Manipur’s New Identity: PM Modi

Manipur’s new identity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated Tuesday, is based on talents, start-ups, and sports, and the state is becoming a gateway for foreign trade. Modi also announced that the BJP government will establish a Rs 100-crore Manipur Start-up Fund as well as two special economic zones in the coming days, while speaking at a virtual electoral rally.

Manipur’s identity is currently defined by its skills, start-ups, and sports. According to the prime minister, the state, which was formerly renowned for bandhs and blockades, is now becoming a hub for international trade and export. The BJP’s double-engine administration is constructing the National Sports University in this city, and Modi said efforts must be made to transform it become an international sports varsity.

Manipur Skill University will also be established. He also stated that a Manipur Skill University would be established to train youths. He also chastised the Congress for allegedly failing to recognise the state’s history and sacrifices for independence, saying, “We have to give new strength to the progress of development and fight those who try to impede it.”

“Our government is constantly working to provide gas connections, better houses, and roads,” Modi said. The Jal Jeevan Mission provides potable water to every home in Manipur, and piped connections have increased tenfold in the last five years, according to the PM. The second phase of assembly elections in Manipur for 22 seats will be held on March 5.
