Venu Prasad Appointed as Additional Chief Secretary to Punjab CM

According to a government order, senior IAS officer A Venu Prasad has been appointed as the Punjab chief minister’s extra chief secretary. Prasad’s appointment is the state’s first administrative change since the change of guard.
Prasad is an IAS officer from the 1991 batch. He was also the chairman-cum-managing director of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited, as well as the additional chief secretary for legislative affairs and taxation.
Following his Congress party’s defeat in the Assembly elections, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi presented his resignation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday. In the 117-member Punjab Assembly, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) romped home with 92 seats.
On March 16, Bhagwant Mann will be sworn in as Punjab’s chief minister in Khatkar Kalan, his ancestral village, the ancestral village of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, in Nawanshahr district.
