On Wednesday, the Supreme Court reserved its verdict on the group of petitions [Vivek Narayan Sharma v. Union of India and ors] that contested the Central government’s decision to demonetize 500 and 1,000 rupee notes in 2016.
After hearing the attorneys’ response arguments, a Constitution Bench comprising Justices S Abdul Nazeer, BR Gavai, AS Bopanna, V Ramasubramanian, and BV Nagarathna reserved judgement in the case today.
The Court ordered parties to submit their written arguments by Saturday, December 10, and requested that the Central government deliver some secret documents pertaining to the ruling in a sealed cover.
A group of appeals contesting the decision are currently being heard by the top court, specifically on eleven legal issues.
