On Thursday morning, the benchmark equity indexes Sensex and Nifty remained practically unchanged as gains in the price of crude oil and several banking stocks were offset by losses in the IT and FMCG sectors due to the assembly election results in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.
The National Stock Exchange’s broader Nifty index was up 8.60 points, or 0.05 per cent, at 18,569.10 as 28 of its members increased, compared to 21 declines and 1 unchanged.
On the BSE, IndusInd Bank increased by 1%, Axis Bank increased by 0.9%, and ICICI Bank increased by 0.5%. Additionally making progress were SBI, Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, Nestle, UltraTech Cement, Maruti, and Reliance. Kotak Bank, HUL, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Power Grid, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy’s, and Wipro, on the other hand, declined.
