Court is not an expert to determine what the Army wants: Delhi High Court on the Agnipath scheme challenge

The Delhi High Court stated on Monday that the Agnipath scheme for entrance into the Indian armed services was developed by specialists and that the court is not an expert body that can pass judgement on such a scheme.

A division bench made up of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad stated that it will also refrain from discussing military strategy or examining the policies that various foreign nations have in place managing their diverse armed services.

The Agnipath Scheme aims to enlist young people for four years in the Indian Army. Only 25% of the chosen candidates will remain in the Indian Army after this time, while the remaining candidates would not be given posts in the armed forces.
