Ensure that e-cigarettes are not offered online; perform routine checks close to schools and colleges: Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court issued a directive on Monday [Shiv Vinayak Gupta & Anr v. Union of India & Ors] ordering the Central and Delhi governments, as well as the Delhi Police, to prevent the sale of e-cigarettes online.

The Delhi Police have been ordered to conduct regular inspections near educational institutions to make sure that these e-cigarettes are not being supplied, according to a directive from a division bench led by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad.

Despite the Act being in effect, it was claimed that e-cigarettes and other similar products are still available on the market, endangering the lives of innocent people and blatantly violating Article 21 of the Constitution.
