India defeats Australia in the second women’s T20I in 2022 with a Super Over victory

On Sunday, December 11, 2022, in the evening, the gates of the D.Y. Patil Stadium announced to the disappointed spectators, “Full house.”

That packed house was treated to a display of excellent batting in both innings as well as a spectacular conclusion. It’s possible that this was the largest crowd the Indian women’s cricket team has ever played in front of at home.

And the 50,000 boisterous, ecstatic fans got more than they bargained for: a Super Over as India made 187 for five in response to Australia’s 187 for one. India won the Super Over and broke Australia’s winning streak this year, much to the pleasure of the crowd.
