Ukrainian diplomacy intensifies amidst violence and power shortages

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy intensified efforts to secure international assistance over the Russian invasion, which is dragging into its tenth month, and President Joe Biden told his Ukrainian counterpart on December 11 that the United States is prioritising efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences.

A lot of Ukrainians were left in the dark and cold as a result of ongoing heavy warfare in the country’s east and south as well as drone and missile attacks on vital power infrastructure, particularly in the Black Sea port city of Odesa.

The worst conflict in Europe since World War Two, which Moscow describes as a “special military operation” and Ukraine and its allies’ term an unjustified act of aggression, has no peace talks underway and no end in sight.
