Bihar BJP MPs and Union Minister Giriraj Singh have urged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to reconsider the State’s prohibition policy in New Delhi.
The death of numerous people in Bihar’s Saran area who were allegedly drinking illicit alcohol served as the initial impetus for the demand, according to the police on Wednesday. As this fatality is just one in a string of similar incidents, the policy itself came under scrutiny, but it was also criticised for contributing to an increase in crime.
Speaking outside of Parliament, Mr. Singh suggested that Mr. Kumar call an all-party meeting to discuss the matter and make a determination in accordance with it. “A policy should be revisited if it is not working,” he remarked. “In Bihar, alcohol is now regarded as a deity. Everyone is aware of its presence, yet no one can see it, he said.
