A Chakma community organisation in Mizoram objected to Governor’s Rule being imposed on a politically unstable tribal council.
The Governor of the State has taken over all duties or authority vested in or exercisable by the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) for a period of six months until further orders, according to a notification issued by the District Council and Minority Affairs Department of Mizoram on December 16.
The decision was made, according to the notification, because Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu believed that the frequent administration changes brought on by political manoeuvring were seriously detrimental to the welfare of the CADC and its citizens.
