On a day when the government also held a lunch for all Members of Parliament with a menu that was completely made up of dishes prepared with millet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the benefits of millet and sports in boosting the health of citizens to BJP MPs. When he made these statements, he was speaking to the parliamentary party of the BJP.
After the talks, Prime Minister informed BJP MPs that “making millets, farmed by most small farmers in the country, popular, equates to serving the country,” according to Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi.
On his government’s request, Mr. Modi pointed out that the United Nations had designated 2023 as the International Year of Millets. He had urged for making a variety of nutrient-dense grains a common choice of food for people. Millets would be served, according to Mr. Modi, who also noted that they can be used in anganwadis, schools, households, and government meetings.
