In light of a sudden spike in cases in several regions of the world, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya evaluated the COVID-19 situation in the country on December 21 and ordered officials to remain vigilant and step-up surveillance.
“Reviewed the situation with experts and officials today in light of the escalating COVID-19 cases in several nations. Covid is indeed continuing. I’ve told everyone responsible to be vigilant and step up security. In a tweet, Mr. Mandaviya declared, “We are ready to handle any situation”.
On December 20, the Union Health Ministry urged all States and Union Territories to increase the whole genome sequencing of Covid-positive samples in order to keep track of newly emerging variants in light of the rise in cases in Japan, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, Brazil, and China.
