Shambhuraj Desai, a Maharashtra minister, stated on Wednesday that if Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai continues to make reckless statements, Maharashtra may have to reconsider providing water from its dams to the neighbouring state. This comes amid a simmering border conflict.
Chandrakant Patil and Shambhuraj Desai were chosen by the Maharashtra government as nodal ministers last month to work with the legal team on a court case over the state’s boundary dispute with Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters in the Vidhan Bhavan complex in this city, Mr. Desai attacked Mr. Bommai over the Karnataka government’s position that Maharashtra will not receive a single inch of land. The Karnataka legislature reaffirmed the state’s position that the boundary dispute has been resolved and that no territory would be transferred to the neighbouring state.
