Gujarat and Chhattisgarh hotels’ star ratings postponed by 6 months.

The tourism ministry has received a representation from the hospitality organisation Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) outlining the concerns lodged by hotels regarding the holdup in classifying or reclassifying 1, 2, and 3 star hotels in Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.

India has roughly 1.5 lakh branded hotel rooms, according to industry estimates.

According to the Federation, the reason for the delay may be because the process of examination has been moved from the state level to the ministry of tourism in Delhi, as it was done in the past.
