The National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to make India the global hub for the production of environmentally friendly hydrogen, was authorised by the Cabinet Of ministers on January 4.
The government has allotted 17,490 crores for the SIGHT programme, 1,466 crores for future pilot projects, 400 crores for R&D, and 388 crores for other mission components out of the overall spending for the mission.
On August 15, 2021, the National Hydrogen Mission was created with the objective of reducing carbon emissions and boosting the usage of renewable energy sources. The instructions for implementing the plan will be developed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
