Kerala High Court requests a response from CBSE to a transgender person’s petition for a certificate change of name and gender.

Having recently changed his name and gender, a transgender person who was born with female sex has petitioned the Kerala High Court to order the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to update his name, gender, and picture on his CBSE certificates from the 10th and 12th grades.

The petition was unique, according to Justice VG Arun, who also instructed the CBSE’s standing advocate to seek guidance on the subject.

According to the petitioner, whenever a person changes their gender, the change must be acknowledged in all official records under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020.
