Nomination of Justice N Kotiswar Singh as acting chief justice of the Gauhati High Court announced by the central government.

As of January 12, Justice N Kotiswar Singh has been appointed by the Central government as the Gauhati High Court’s acting Chief Justice.

After Chief Justice RM Chhaya retires, Justice Singh will take over as Chief Justice. The Union Ministry of Law and Justice released a notice to this effect on January 10.

At the Gauhati High Court, Justice Singh is now the most senior judge. As acting Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Justice Singh would be serving his fourth term. Prior to this year, he held this position in the years 2019, 2020, and 2022.
