The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive meeting on January 17 decided to extend J.P. Nadda’s tenure as president of the party until June 2024.
The final month of Mr. Nadda’s three-year term was set to be January 2023. Amit Shah, who is currently the Home Minister, received a similar extension to help lead the party’s campaigning for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
The organisational elections didn’t start until after the legislative elections, and Mr. Nadda won without opposition. Mr. Shah then joined the Union Cabinet during Narendra Modi’s second term as prime minister.
