Despite stressing that the Congress must serve as the centre of any significant Opposition alliance, the Congress said on Saturday that the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s final event in Srinagar on January 30 is not a “coalition-building exercise.”
Rajiv Ranjan Singh, president of the Janata Dal(U), wrote a letter expressing his support for the yatra but also expressing his inability to attend the celebration because he was too busy campaigning for the next Assembly election in Nagaland.
Mr. Ramesh mentioned this letter. Deve Gowda, the founder and former leader of the Janata Dal (Secular), also wrote a similar letter to Rahul Gandhi, the current leader of the yatra.
