Collegium Makes Another Proposal For Tripura High Court Chief Justice, As Judge Was Earlier Recommend To Retire In 2 Weeks

In light of the judge who was previously recommended for the position and whose file is now with the Central Government, the Supreme Court collegium has made an additional recommendation for the appointment as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
Justice Jaswant Singh, who is now a judge on the Orissa High Court, was suggested for appointment as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court by the collegium on January 25. This plan has not yet been implemented by the central government. The collegium has now suggested that Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, a judge of the Jharkhand High Court, be appointed as the Tripura High Court Chief Justice following Justice Singh’s retirement, which is scheduled to take place on February 22.
The collegium later rescinded the suggestion to promote Justice Jaswant Singh to Orissa HC CJ and suggested that he serve as Tripura HC CJ instead because Justice Muralidhar’s transfer was still pending. Justice Singh is now the second senior judge on the Orissa High Court and was formerly a member of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
